ELDERS

RPBC is governed by several elders, based on the New Testament teaching found in Acts 20:28.  The qualifications for elders are found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Each elder is a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.  His primary job is to care about, to care for and to be concerned with everything that touches the local church.

Each elder serves indefinitely since we believe that the Holy Spirit has called him for that task and the church has responded to His leadership.

Acts 6:1-6 recounts that the Apostles recognized that no one group of people can sustain the entire ministry of a local church.  The qualifications for deacons are found in 1 Timothy 3:8-10 and Acts 6:3.

The deacons handle the day-to-day activities of the church to free the elders to concentrate on their primary functions.

Deacons help bring order to the congregation, help the poor and needy of the congregation and dispense practical assistance.
